New NCN Website

We are very pleased to announce the arrival of our new nurseries website. We have been working hard on a simple yet informative website with pages that parents can interact with such as our news pages. Our Facebook pages are well used so there is also a link from both nurseries to their own Facebook page. We hope you like the new look and feel of the website and welsome any feedback….

Baby signing and Makaton

All throughout the Nursery all staff members use baby signing and Makaton. We find this helps our children who cannot vocalise or are struggling to be able to communicate with us, easing the frustration that a lot of children can suffer from. This month our 0-2’s are working on the signs for friends and home, this will be used frequently throughout the day and in different songs and rhymes the staff may do with them….

Baby Unit sensory area

Stacey and Vicky have been working very hard to finish off their new sensory area of the 0-1’s room. They have managed to get different wooden sensory toys and have managed to make the area very black and white. The purpose of doing this is because research has proven that the best way you  can stimulate baby’s vision is using black and white stripes or light and dark contrasting colours. Mud kitchen

Now that Summer is officially over, the 2-5’s love turning our veggie patch back into a mud kitchen, over the coming weeks we will be setting back up the kitchen (with a sink included this year!!) for the children to start making us mud pies and mud banquets. If any parents have any kitchen equipment so pots and pans, utensils etc they are looking to throw away we will happily adopt them for the kitchen….

Meningitis Awareness 2015

Natural Choice – Alveston was very proud to be involved in the Meningitis Awareness week 2015. The staff and children wore purple and held a cake sale within the Nursery at the end of the day. The children loved making all different types of cakes throughout the day and we were very proud to have raised £176.00 within Alveston to contribute to the £225.00 raised by both Alveston and Charfield Nursery.
